PVC Water Pipe Pressure / Non Pressure Seals
GENERAL APPL.ICATION: PVC pipes are used in the construction of the vast networks of water and sewer piping systems around the world. It is essential that these pipes convey various fluids without leakage through joints, and also to prevent other materials such as ground water (Inflow/Infiltration) and soils from migrating into the pipe through faulty joints. The VRR Pressure seal makes such jointing possible.
SEAL DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE: The VRR Pressure Seal exceeds the current SANS Standard in all criteria. On installation of the seal, by the pipe manufacturer, the seal is easily located in the socket groove. Minor variations in the groove dimensions will be absorbed by the compression of the seal. The seal design results in low assembly forces making pipe jointing easier.
MATERIAL
- Synthetic rubber
- Hardness 60±5 IRHD
- Approved in accordance with ISO 4633
- Ozone resistant
QUALITY ASSURANCE
- ISO 9001
- ISO 4633 approved
- WRAS approved on request
- In addition to SABS testing, rigorous in house pressure and simulated tests are conducted.
AVAILABLE SIZES FOR PVC WATER PIPES:
USING THE VRR PRESSURE SEAL IN INDUSTRY
The jointing of municipal Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipelines is achieved by means of a rubber sealing ring seated in the pipe bell to effectively prevent leakage between two adjoining pieces of pipe after the spigot (male end) is inserted into the bell (female end).
The VRR PRESSURE SEAL is made of SABS approved rubber and is incorporated into the pipe by the PVC pipe manufacturer. The installer simply has to join the pipes at the installation site to achieve an easy to use, non-leak solution. This also prevents the incorrect fitment of the seal by the installer.

SEAL DESIGN AND FUNCTION: The VRR PRESSURE LOCK SEAL is a combined lip a compression seal which is positioned and locked inside the socket by the pipe manufacturer. The unique design comprises of a rubber sealing element bonded to the plastic retaining element which holds the seal securely in position during transport ft pipe assembly.
VRR has improved the shape of the rubber component which aids in the prevention of sand ingression, which in turn prevents the possibility of pipe leakage.
